Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Auction Committee
This is the Preschool's one and only fundraiser for the year. We need at least 40 volunteers for this committee. The primary responsibility for the volunteer is to contact approximately five assigned businesses and solicit donations for the silent auction. The majority of businesses have been donors in previous years and are very supportive of the school. The committee meets once in early November and once in early February. Volunteers may also participate in a variety of smaller subcommittees. We have approximately 5 chair persons that oversee different parts of the event. This event occurs in March.

Book Fair
Volunteers help to organize and run the Book Fair held during our Open House in October along with two of the teachers who chair this event.

End of Year Program
Volunteers will plan the reception that follows the End of the Year Program on the last day of school. This event is similar to the Family Open House. We need at least two chairpersons and about 20 volunteers to bring food and paper products for this event in May.

Family Open House
Volunteers are needed to provide food and set-up for the Open House. The Chairpersons of this committee are responsible for coordinating the refreshments with all the volunteers. We need at least 2 chair persons and at least 20 volunteers to bring food and supplies for this event. This event occurs the third Thursday in October.

Fellowship Mission Committee
Volunteers collect monthly "goods" for the Fellowship Mission Preschool such as juice, paper products, soap and peanut butter. In addition, the committee coordinates events including the Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Christmas Gift Drive. Volunteers also have the opportunity to donate their time at the Fellowship Mission Preschool working with the staff and children. These projects occur throughout the school year.

Grounds Committee
Volunteers will assist with handyman jobs around the school throughout the school year and help to organize additional volunteers for a Fall Work Day and a Spring Work Day.

Library / Media Center Committee
Volunteers will assist in keeping the library organized by shelving books and helping us to keep it well stocked. This volunteer opportunity occurs throughout the school year.

Mardi Gras Pancake Breakfast
Volunteers help cook and serve the pancake breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. This event occurs on Fat Tuesday each year in February or March.

Pumpkin Patch
Volunteers are needed to help with unloading of pumpkins when delivered and to take shifts to sell pumpkins throughout the month of October.

K / Pre-K Graduation
Volunteers plan the graduation gala and reception. They create the programs, decorate the room and plan the big party! This event occurs the last Thursday of the school year in May.

Room Parent
Room Parents are important assets to the teachers, by helping with activities throughout the year. The Room Parent helps the teacher arrange for drivers for field trips and coordinates other parent volunteers for the parties throughout the year. Room Parents may also assist in contacting the parents in their class regarding the many other activities at Haygood. This volunteer opportunity is ongoing throughout the year.

Teacher Appreciation
Volunteers host four luncheons for the staff members during the school year. The teachers receive important ongoing education and training during these luncheons that can be used in the classroom. This group also coordinates teacher appreciation gifts and bonuses. This volunteer opportunity is ongoing throughout the year.
