Enrichment programs are provided from September to May of each school year and they compliment our curriculum. The following programs are offered during school hours:
Singing and movement are important elements in the daily curriculum for the Preschool. The Preschool Music teacher works with classes weekly. Our music curriculum includes singing, movement, games, instruments, rhythm activities, listening and dramatization. The parents will have several opportunities to see the children perform at different events throughout the year.
Spanish is taught weekly for children 3 and older during the academic school year. Children learn about Spanish culture, foods and language in a circle time environment.
Yoga is taught once weekly to children age 3 and older for 20 minutes throughout the school year. The focus is on fitness and fun while learning stretches, poses and relaxation techniques. Our instructor is trained in early childhood education, yoga and martial arts.
Chapel services are held from October through March in the Haygood Chapel for children 3 and older. Parents and friends are invited to attend at any time. The chapel program lasts for approximately 15 minutes and includes a short talk, singing, recognition of birthdays and prayer. The emphasis in chapel is a non-denominational approach on nature and love of God. The atmosphere in chapel is warm, loving, accepting and relaxed.
Lunch Bunch is offered Monday-Friday from 12:00 to 1:00pm for children ages 3 and older. The children bring lunches, eat with their friends and have recreation time in the gym or on the playground, depending on the weather.
Additional enrichment programs, such as ballet, basketball, karate and Play Ball are offered through the Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church Recreation Department. For information and applications for these programs, go to haygoodumc.org and click on Recreation
